FUDANREN   Striving to Unite Women’s Power for Peace and Equality

With an aim to “bring the power of women who desire for peace together,” Japan Federation of Women’s Organizations (FUDANREN) was founded on April 5, 1953, amidst the Korean War. The first president was Hiratsuka Raicho, who wrote in the inaugural issue of the journal Seito the famous manifesto: “In the Beginning, Woman Was the Sun.”

FUDANREN has been struggling to defend women’s, human rights and women’s lives, and to build towards a peaceful and independent future, the happiness of children, democracy, and gender equality.

FUDANREN is constant women’s joint struggle organization composed of 23 organizations,

FUDANREN has been strengthening on its own initiative international solidarity with women around the world. It is affiliated with Women’s International Democratic Federation (WIDF).

FUDANREN works to promote better lives, rights and advancement of women, welfare of children, peace and independence, democracy, and gender equality. Consisted of 23 member organizations, including women’s groups, women’s sections of various fields and local groups, FUDANREN is a “permanent body to advance women’s joint struggle.” Affiliated with the Women’s International Democratic Federation (WIDF), FUDANREN strives to amplify international solidarity among women.

We hope to realize the politics based on the Constitution of Japan and Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women with the women’s power in widespread cooperation and solidarity.

With the power of a wide range of women acting together in solidarity, FUDANREN aims to achieve politics based on the Japanese Constitution and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women.
